'Places in the Woods' was a minor submission towards an MA in Children's Book Illustration, and was informed by three years of observational sketching at a Forest School.

Inspired by E.H.Shephard's '100 Acre Woods', and motivated by the physical limitations of traditional paper maps, this outcome is a map building activity for children. It involves finding etched, wooden location markers (place-tags) that are scattered around the woods, and then using them to construct a map on a large, netted tarpaulin that is placed on the ground.

I am currently working on a companion picture book for Reception aged children, for use in their pre-arrival orientation.

With greatest thanks to Goudhurst & Kilndown COE Primary School.
